BHAGAVATI, Kudremukh: Gangamoola (Cave of)

A sacred -cave- of dubious nature is dedicated to the goddess Bhagavati (note 1) and contains an image of Varaha (Vishnu as a boar), which is either 1.8 m large or put up 1.8 m from the cave entrance. SITUATION: At a travelling distance of 1.8 miles (2.9 km) without orientation from the hill Gangamoola (note 2) on Kudremukh (note 3), the hill station on top of the Western Ghats and on the border of the districts of Chikmagalur and/or Dakshin Kannad (note 4).
