Location

From Thong Pha Phum take the H3272 which psrsllels on the right the Huai Khayeng river and on the left the limestone massif of Khao Tha Khanun. Stop in 'the big right line' 2km after the 1019m point (on the 1:250,000 Tavoy map). Where ther is a small shop located 10m to the left of the road, follow a track to the right which crosses a small stream of clear water. Pass the several bamboo huts located at the side of the stream and ascend a poorly marked track in the directio nof the big karst massif. After about 80m the track leads round to the right to the entrance of a cave (4m x 2m) Martin Ellis - 05/09/2019

Description

Martin Ellis - 05/09/2019

A short sloping passage leads after 10m at the entrance to a small underground streamway which soon sumps downstream. Upstream the course of the water can be followed in a very corroded rift, encumbered with fallen boulders. A short low passage gives way to a more spacious passage whose floor is covered with big boulders. Before long the passage reverts to a narrow rift which sumps after 10m. A chimney was climbede to the top of a narrow rift. High CO2, up to 4% has been recorded from the cave. This is probably one of the resurgences for the impressive 800m high cockpit karst massif a short distance west of Thong Pha Phum.
