… rock paintings [rock art] of the Narasinghgarh [note 2] area are very close to the other regions. In the Upper Palaeolithic period human figures are found here; green in colour and similar to those at Bhimbetka. In the Mesolithic period human figures in groups and along with animals are found (as in other parts in India), rhino, bison, deer, fish elephant, bull, tiger, antelope, stag, cow, dog, horse, camel, etc. are depicted. These include paintings where the body parts of animals are adorned with geometrical patterns, once again similar to those in Bhimbetka. In general mineral colours; red hematite, chalk, yellow ochre, were used in the paintings. Some paintings in blue black were also seen. In the Chalcolithic period, horse riders (as noted at Bhimbetka) are found. Some paintings and inscriptions related to Buddhism; and painted and engraved stupas are also found. They are very similar to those depicted at Bhopal and Bhimbetka. By observation and study it is found that there arefew differences in composition, pose, style and formation (TRIPATHI, J D circa 2002 s.a.).few differences in composition, pose, style and formation (TRIPATHI, J D circa 2002 s.a.).
