Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

Two cave entrances give access to an unpleasant perennial stream cave / resurgence (Jarratt 2005.02.21 Mss: Krem Sukbu; Jarratt 2005.03.06 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XII, 21/2/05). SITUATION: The entrance to this cave lies at an unknown location somewhere at the level of the Letien [note 1] valley level down ridge below Khaidong [sic! for: Daistong] village. (Jarratt 2005.02.21 Mss: Krem Sukbu). The GPS position, which has been recorded for the entrance to Krem Sukbu indicates a spot below the village of Daistong (without GPS positions) and about 5.3 km in a direct line approximately ESE (4672.0 m east and 2474.7 m south) of Khaidong village (N25°21'23.3”: E092°30'58.8” unspecified precision error, WGS84, Groves, M 2002.02.24, Garmin 12). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2005a: … entered by squeezing under a tree. Some 10 m of small canyon passage full of harvestmen led to an unpleasant looking canal with deep mud which was left unexplored (Jarratt 2005.03.06 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XII, 21/2/05). CAVE DESCIPTION 2005b: Small hole under tree drops 2 m to c. 10 m of small canyon passage leading to second entrance. Passage half full of water and deep mud leads are unexplored (Jarratt 2005.02.21 Mss: Krem Sukbu). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2005c: Deep mud / water, open (Arbenz, T 2005.02 Mss: Abstracts.xls after Jarratt). PROSPECTS: Anthony -Tony- R. Jarratt (2005.02.21 Mss: Krem Sukbu) arrived in believing that the prospects for exploring this cave are good but probably unpleasant. May be the flood resurgence for the Nan and Brisyni caves. CAVE LIFE: Crickets (Orthoptera), harvestman (Opillionida).IPTION 2005b: Small hole under tree drops 2 m to c. 10 m of small canyon passage leading to second entrance. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2001.02.09: Rud Suklain of Daistong village told the cave name Krem Skbu to Brian D. Kharpran Daly, in company with Anthony 'Tony' R. Jarratt, H. D. Gebauer and others. 2005.02.21: Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt (2005.03.06 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XII, 21/2/05), in company with Graham Marshall and Fraser E. Simpson, guided by Shartis Dkhar and Raplang Shangpliang, were chauffeur-driven by Adi [Addison Thabah] to Khaidong [sic! for: Daistong] with a tea and shortbread stop at the Dukan Sha tea shop. … At valley level we reached the perenniel resurgence of Krem Sukbu (area name), which Rapland and I entered by squeezing under a tree. Some 10 m of small canyon passage full of harvestmen led to an unpleasant looking canal with deep mud which was left unexplored. I retreated and Rapland found another exit. We then collected two small boys and crossed the paddy fields … 37 eagle vultures (?) seen. Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018
