More a clump of boulders than a cave. It's a popular picnic spot on weekends (LONELY PLANET, India 1997: 1067). ETYMOLOGY: Tiger Cave [note 1] … it's name comes from the shrine (dedicated to Durga) and the entrance which features a crown of carved tiger heads (LONELY PLANET, India 1997: 1067). SITUATION: This shady and peacefull place is 4 km north of Mamallapuram and signposted off to the right [sic! qua: east] of the road (LONELY PLANET, India 1997: 1067).More a clump of boulders than a cave.
