Location
Some 5 meters west (SPELEOLOGIE AFGHANE 1978, text on page 16) or north (SPELEOLOGIE AFGHANE 1978, cave plan on page 17) of an impenetrable karst spring (5 m wide and 2 m high, with an estimated flow of one or 2000 ltr/sec) near kilometre stone 101.6 on the road from Kabul to Mazar-i Sharif.
Description
Descriptions
Not a resurgence cave (note 1), as the name implies, but the relic of a cave (abandoned by flowing water) with two entrances close to / and above a resurgence cave (SPELEOLOGIE AFGHANE 1975: 16-18, cave plan on page 17). CAVE DESCRIPTION: The obvious entrance (4 m wide, 3 m high) gives access to a slightly ascending, relic passage abandoned by flowing water. Some 8 m from the entrance, the floor rises due to collapse from the ceiling. At 11 m, a 9 m long passage leads back to the surface but the main passage (on average 0.8 m wide and 3.5 m high continues for 27 m to a demanding squeeze. Beyond this, the passage opens up for 7 m before it runs into a second, even smaller sqeeze.
